Allegany Assists at Huge Inferno
 
Responding was E-33, E-31, UT-261
 
7/22/2010 MVA I-86
Allegany responded to a ALS MVA on I-86.  C-100 first on scene reported 5 injuries with all entraped.
Olean 10 arrived on scene and requested Mercy Flight to the scene.  1 young girl was self extricated
while 3 adults and one young boy needed to be extricated.  The 12 yo boy was a unsecured backseat
passenger and was flown to Buffalo Childrens for a possible back injury.  The vehicle was to believed to have rolled several times.  Responding to the scene was C-100, Olean 10, AM 233, AM 232, Engines 32 and 33, Utilities 262 and 261.  Mutial aid was requested bringing in ambulances from Westons Mills and Limestone to the scene and Hinsdale to stand bye.  
 
  
 
 
 
 
 
 
March 29
AFD toned for a working structure fire at 3707 Carey Hollow Rd. in the Town of Allegany.  Fire Chief Jm Billings arrived on location to find a 1 story wood frame structure fully involved.  Immediately mutial aide was requested from Westons Mills, Portville, Town of Olean, and Hinsdale.  Because the structure was fully involved and there was no entrapment a defensive attack was started.  The home owner was transported to Olean General for smoke inhalation.  The investigation is ongoing.
 
 
 
 
 
 
The District 4 FAST team assisted Olean City Fire Dept. on Tues. Jan 5 2010 at 6:36pm with a fire at 143 South Union Street.  On scene were members from Allegany, Westons Mills, Knapp Creek, and Hinsdale.   Allegany and Westons Mills also provided stand bye crews at the city fire stations
 
 
 
 
Bad weather in the area caused accidents in the area including this MVA on the Buffalo Rd.
 
 
 
December 9 
The members of AFD battled a structure fire on the 2 Mile Road in the Town of Allegany.  Upon arrival of first units there was fire and smoke showing from a two story wood frame structure.  An aggressive interior attack was started and the fire knocked down quickley.     Responding to the scene were Engines 30, 31, 32, 33, UT 261, Am 233, AM 232 all under the command of C453 Jeremy Crowley.  Mutual aid was received from Town of Olean, Westons Mills, Portville, C-100, D-4 coordinater and the District 4 FAST Team.  Fire damage was contained to the back laundry room with smoke and heat damage throughout.  No one was home at the time of the fire.
 
December 7 
 Slippery road conditions were partially to blame for an accident on Interstate 86 in the town of Allegany near the Allegany rest stop at about 4 p.m. Dec. 7. The expressway was closed in both the eastbound and westbound lanes from the town of Allegany to Carrollton until 8:45 p.m. because several other cars slid off the icy highway.  Only minor injuries were reported.  Allegany Equipment and members remained on scene until 9:30pm when the expressway was opened.

Saturday January 10, 2009 - AFD toned for a two car MVA on Route 417 near the American Legion.  Responding units found two vehicle with major damage.  A four door car t - boned a minivan in the passenger side door.  Upon arrival of Engine 32, extrication was began on both vehicles with the most critical of the patients being the unrestrained passenger of the van.  In all 3 patients were transported to OGH with severe fractures.Responding to the scene was E32, E33, UT262, AM231, AM232, AM233, Chiefs 450, 451, 452, 454, 455, Ems Captains C456 and 457.

Monday January 26 at 14:20 - Catt. Count tones AFD for a mutual aid response to Cuba in Allegany County.  The request was for manpower to the scene of the fire.  E33 responded with 4 maskmen and AM 233 responded with a driver and 2 EMTs, C453 was officer in charge.  During "mop up" the second floor collapsed and 4 firefighters were sent to local hospitals.  A mayday was trasmitted by AFD FF Aurino and the injured and trapped firefighters were rescue and removed from the house.  3 firefighters had fractures and scrapes while the other firefighter was in critical condition with airway burns.  FF Aurino was involved in the collapse but did not need medical attention.  No other Allegany firefighters were injured in the incident.  AFD units were back in service around 18:30.

Saturday Feb. 7 at 13:48 - AFD toned for car fire on I 86.  Upon arrival and compact car was fully involved and the gas tank ruptured.  The car was quickly put out and I 86 reopened for traffic.  Responding to the scene was Engine 32, Engine 30, UT 262, C450, C451, C452, and C454
 
 
Friday March 6 at 18:35 - AFD toned for a report structure fire at 4115 South Nine Mile Rd. Lot #51.  Upon arrival of C453 and C451 they report a working trailer fire.  They immediately call for tankers from Town of Olean and Westons Mills as well as the District 4 FAST Team.  Upon arriavl of Engine 32 flames were coming through a skylight.  Flames were quickly knocked down and ventilation done.  A primary search was completed by the crews of E32 and E30 and no victims were found.  Fire damage was contained to the kitchen with heat and smoke damage to most of the residence.  Hinsdale FD provided stand by for AFD. Firefighter Rehab was done on scene by the crew of AM231. All units were back in service around 21:00.  No injuries were reported and no one was home at the time of the fire.  Responding to the scene were C450, C451, C453, C454, C455, E32, E30, E33, and AM231.
 
3/23/09 13:59- AFD toned for a grass fire on the 5 mile road.  Upon arrival of UT 262 they reported a large corn field on fire and moving towards wooded area.  With the arrival of Engine 33 a    1 1/2" hand line was pulled 300' to help stop the progession of the fire as UT 262 crews were on scene about 1 hour..
 
3/24/09  22:04- AFD toned for a house fire on the North 9 mile road.  Upon arrival it was found that a fire had started under the hot water heater and was now out.  Responding to the scene was E31, E32, E33, E30, UT 262, and all chiefs.  Units were back in service 20 minutes after tone out.
 
3/26/09  15:32 - Toned for structure fire with possible entrapment at 20 N. 3rd Street.  Upon units arriving the smoke was caused by a rubber ball melting on a floor furnace.  The smoke was removed and units went back in service.  Responding to the scene was Engine 32, and Engine 33.  Westons Mills Fire as well as the District Four FAST teeam was put on standby.
 
3/28/09  19:53 - AFD toned for a structure fire at 4637 Lower Birch Run Rd.  Upon arrival units found that the fire was out.  Units checked for extension and made sure the fire was out.  Responding units were E30, 31, 32, 33, UT 262 , and Am 231.
 
3/31/09  17:55 - AFD banged out for a male patient trapped under a vehicle.  Units arriving on location found a male patient trapped under the back tires of a small pickup truck.  The truck was lifted using a airbag system and the patient extricated.  The male was found to have a severe leg injury and flown from the scene via Mercyflight to ECMC.
 
5/10/09  07:45 - AFD toned for a possible structure fire on Pumkin Hollow Road.  Units found a motor home fully involved.  The fire was put out and units went back into service.
 
5/28/09  18:30 - AFD was toned for a reported barn fire with flames showing.  Responding units were advised of numerous calls of a fully involved structure.  When the first chiefs arrived they found a 20' x 15' shed fully involved.  Engine 32 arrived and stretched 2 - 1 1/2" preconnect hose lines.  The fire was quickley knocked down and units were put back in service.  Responding to the scene was E30, 31, 32, 33, UT262, AM231.  The Town of Olean was requested for a tanker to the scene and Westons Mills on standby at the Allegany hall.
 
 
 
Sunday May 31 - AFD was banged out for a MVA on the South Nine Mile Road.  Upon location units found 2 patients sitting on the pavement next to the car.  The vehicle struck a large tree backwards then the victims drove the car approx. 200 feet down the road.  One patient was flown from the scene via Mercy Flight to a trauma center with head and internal injuries while patient #2 was transported to Olean General Hospital with head injuries.  Responding to the call were Am231, Am233, Engine 32, Engine 33, UT 262, Olean 10, and Mercy Flight 5.  All units were back in quarters by 10:00am.
 
 
 
Saturday May 23 - At 12:33 The Allegany Engine Company was toned for a motorcycle vs. car mva.  Upon location a male patient was found in the middle of the road.  The male was riding a motorcycle when a vehicle pulled out in front of him.  The male flew over the car and landed on the pavement.  The male had minor injuries and was transported to OGH.  Responding to the scene was Am231, Engine 32, UT 262, and Olean 10.
 
August 4, 2009 - Toned for a motorcycle mvc on the South 9 Mile Road.  Chief 4 was first on location to report  1 injury.  Upon arrival of Olean 10, Mercyflight was requested.  A landing zone was set up just yards from the accident scene by the crew of Engine 32.  Mercyflight 7 landed and promptly flew the patient to ECMC with multiple severe fractures.
