The District 4 Firefighter Assist and Search Team responds to working structure fires in District 4. The goal of the team is to assist and/or rescue trapped firefighter. The fire departments involved in District 4 are Allegany, Limestone, Westons Mills, Hinsdale, Town of Olean, City of Olean, Portville, and Knapp Creek. The members of the FAST team has put numerous hours in training to be prepared for an emergency. This team is a great asset to this district and county. The District 4 FAST Team is the first in the county and hopefully not the last!
Response- November 28, 2008, Cuba Fire Dept. in Allegany County for Working fire Echo Lanes Bowling Alley.
Saturday December 13, 2008 - D-4 FAST response to RT 446 in the Hinsdale Fire Disrtict for a working 2 story wood frame structure fire. Upon arrival of FAST Team command a full response was toned. Damage was contained to the upstairs and all dept. FAST personnel responded. Approx. 24 hours later the Team was toned to respond back to scene for a rekindle. The structure was a total loss this time.
Tuesday December 16, 2008 - FAST dispatched to respond to the North Branch Road in Eldred Township, PA.
Sunday, December 21, 2008- The FAST Team was toned for a response to Friendship Fire Dept in Allegany County. Friendship was fighting a commercial structure fire on main street in the village of Freindship. Upon tone out we were advised of a collapse with trapped firefighters. Being it was a 25 minute drive to the scene the firefighters had been extricated and sent to the hospital. Responding to the scene were Allegany E33 with 8 members, Westons Mills AM 239 with 5 members, and Portville UT with 3 members. On standbye for possible response was Knapp Creek with several members.
